Textural Analysis Front Cover 2 Q-MUSE

In the front cover of the magazine "Q", there is a large image showing a band member of "Muse" smashing the "Q" logo masthead with an electric guitar. This is a connotation of rebellion; the band member is clearly demonstrating refusal of order by demonstrating conflict against order, in this case a mainstream music magazine. The band member is also wielding the guitar with both hands, giving the audience the idea that he is strong by showing that he is attacking at full force. Most of the headlines and cover stories are in bold, giving of an intimidating demeanour. This is further supported by the banner describing the magazine as "The UK's Biggest Music magazine", which is all in capital letters. One of the cover stories describe "Rock's Greatest Nutjobs", which can also be related to the image because the action that the band member is doing can be considered the workings of a "Nutjob" to society. The tagline also states how "Matt Bellamy is out of control",  which backs-up the connotation of a "Nutjob" again. The cover also show a themed colour palette, which mostly include grey and black tones with red being the only primary colour. The tone gives the reader the image of a urban theme, whilst the red show aggression and anger. These are once again another connotation of "rebellion" and "uprising". This can be further connoted by the expression shown on Bellamy's face, which is an angry smirk. A facial expression that is half-angry and half-mischievous, which is what a rebellion represents, the anger to rebel and the mischievousness to start a rebellion.
